KEARNEYSVILLE, W.Va. -- Jefferson County Schools (JCS) partnered with local law enforcement agencies for a reunification exercise on Friday, March 31. The training took place took place at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds, a possible reunification site for schools. Friday was the first time JCS staff and law enforcement have been able to walk through an evacuation and reunification process since planning for the exercise began in the fall. Volunteer families also participated in the event, which included 140 fifth-grade students from Wright Denny Intermediate School.  

Jefferson County Schools follows the Standard Response Protocol, or SRP, to consistently communicate safety plans. The SRP includes a reunification plan, modified to fit the needs of Jefferson County through discussion and planning with law enforcement, emergency management, and JCS staff.
