SES students showcase Trout in the Classroom project

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. -- Fourth graders at Shepherdstown Elementary School (SES) enjoyed seeing their artwork showcased at this year's American Conservation Film Festival. The annual Shepherdstown-based event featured a special installation of "The School of Trout," collectively created by the fourth grade class as part of their "Trout in the Classroom" project.

The exhibit included more than 50 individually-decorated trout displayed at Evolve Shepherdstown, which served as festival pop-up headquarters during the March 10-12 event. The artwork received rave reviews from the numerous festival-goers who viewed it, including representatives from Trout Unlimited and local brook trout scientist Dr. Than Hitt.

SES teachers Marissa Ambrutis, Andrea Mitchell, and Liz Southerland worked with the school's art teacher, Amanda Groff, to develop the project. Former SES teacher Monica Grabowska provided additional assistance. Special thanks to the students and staff who helped bring this beautiful project to life!
