CHIP

West Virginia Children's Health Insurance Program (WVCHIP) was created to help working families without health insurance for their children.  WVCHIP covers a multitude of services, including doctor visits, hospital visits, immunizations, prescriptions, emergency care, medical tests, and x-rays—just to name a few.  Please click on the logo to visit the website to learn about enrollment, check eligibility, and apply to the WVCHIP program.

Children's Home Society of WV

Children's Home Society of West Virginia (CHS) is a comprehensive child welfare, behavioral health, social casework, and advocacy network.  CHS serves nearly 7,000 children each year from 12 primary locations throughout the state. Among current CHS programs are adoption, foster care, and emergency shelter care.  Services also include respite, mediation, parent education training, prenatal and early childhood services as well as school based social work.  Jefferson County Schools partners with CHS to provide clinical social work services in some of our schools.  Please contact a school counselor for more information.  Also, click on the logo to visit the CHS website to learn more about their work.

Help4WV provides a 24-hour helpline for West Virginians who need help with addiction or mental illness. Help4WV provides free help securing a referral or placement for treatment.

JCCM Logo

Jefferson County Community Ministries, Inc. (JCCM) is a cooperative ministry of local churches that assists people in need. Assistance is provided on a limited scale for short-term emergencies in an effort to enable people to work out permanent solutions to meet their own needs.

Kids Power Pacs

Community Combined Ministries has extended its "Kidz Power Pacs" (KPP) ministry into all public schools in Jefferson County.  KPP is a weekend, holiday break, and summer feeding ministry for school-aged children.  This public sponsorship ministry serves over 1,000 children in 42 schools in Berkeley and Jefferson counties.  See the school counselor for an application or click on the logo to visit the KPP website to learn more.

KVC West Virginia Logo

KVC West Virginia is a private, nonprofit child welfare organization that provides a diverse array of services to meet the needs of youth, families and adults throughout West Virginia. KVC West Virginia  offers foster care, adoption, in-home family preservation services, outpatient psychiatric and behavioral healthcare, Safe at Home West Virginia and educational support services. KVC West Virginia is committed to enriching and enhancing the lives of West Virginia children and families.

PASS

PASS (Providing Academic and Self-Esteem Support) is characterized by on-going, one-to-one, mentor-student partnerships. The PASS volunteer may help a student with a particular area of study, share a personal interest such as a hobby, provide encouragement and support, and help build a student’s self-esteem. PASS volunteers help our students reach their goals—most importantly, graduation! Are you interested in becoming a PASS volunteer?  Please contact the Facilitator of Student Access and Support and make plans to attend the next training. Shoe and Coat Fund

Through the generosity of community donations, the Shoe and Coat Fund has been providing new clothing and shoes to JCS students for more than two decades.  Click the logo to view a sample request form.  Please see a school counselor to submit a request.

WV HealthCheck

HealthCheck is the name for West Virginia's Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnosis and Treatment Program, a child preventive health initiative. WVU Health Sciences

Any child who has active Medicaid or WV CHIP insurance is eligible for the WVU Children's Dental Program.  Services available include dental exams and screenings, cleanings, fluoride varnish treatments, sealant applications, and referrals to a dental home.  Children receive services at school with no cost to qualifying families.  To visit the website or obtain more information, please click the logo.  For a Patient Registration Form, please click here.

Youth Advocate Programs

Youth Advocate Programs (YAP) is a nonprofit agency committed to providing community-based alternatives to out-of-home care through direct service, advocacy, and policy change since 1975.  Experienced clinicians offer high-quality professional counseling in homes, schools, and communities.  YAP services are available to qualified students in all Jefferson County Schools.  Click here for the full YAP brochure or click the logo to visit their website.
