Brooks Kursey

HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. -- C.W. Shipley will welcome a familiar face as its new principal for the 2022-2023 school year! Dr. Brooks Kursey has assumed the role after serving as the school's assistant principal for the past two years.

Dr. Kursey brings with him several years of experience as an educational leader. Before joining C.W. Shipley, he served as assistant principal at Potomack Intermediate School in Berkeley County. Dr. Kursey began his career teaching West Virginia history at Spring Mills Middle School after earning his Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Wheeling Jesuit University. He earned his Bachelor's degree in History/Secondary Education from Bethany College.

As C.W. Shipley's assistant principal, Dr. Kursey managed disciplinary measures and attendance, organized student enrollment, scheduled student activities, and assisted with hiring professional and service personnel.

"I'm humbled and honored to take on this new role," said Dr. Kursey. "I've developed a love for this amazing community of dedicated staff, hardworking students, and supportive families. I am incredibly grateful to be given this opportunity."
