MARTINSBURG, W.Va. -- The Jefferson High School (JHS) Marching Band took top honors in class 4A during the 44th Annual Martinsburg High School Band Spectacular on Saturday, September 30. The Spectacular is a tournament of bands offering high school marching bands the opportunity to perform throughout the region. JHS Director of Bands J.P. Lynch said it is a big win because JHS has not competed in such a tournament since 2013.

"The band staff and I are very proud of our students and how they stepped up to the challenge of competing again," Lynch said. "The students have put in many long hours between July and last Saturday to put us in the position to be successful. We hope to continue improving for our upcoming events and competitions."

A total of 11  bands from high schools across the tri-state area competed in the Spectacular. The event also included a performance by the Shepherd University Band.
