Thank you to our Music Educator, Mrs. Shearer, for creating a holiday chorus concert for our 4th/5th grade families. Our students have so much talent and she helps them to discover those talents each year!

All of our 4th grade students “made” sleds as part of “Grinch Day”. Students worked in teams to shop for materials, design, test, and improve the design of their sleds. There was a contest to see which “Who’s” sled in each class could get to the top of Mt. Krumpet with the most “presents”. After the final run, the students examined the sleds, discussed the positives of each design and decided how they would change/modify their sleds if they made them again. Discovery, science, math, investigations and fun all rolled into one!
🛷🤔🎉

Mrs. Burwells fourth grade class had fun, designing and creating their own gnome ornaments.

Flannel days are fun days at South Jefferson!

All things Christmas tree in Mrs. Fox's Kindergarten class---partners had to work together using all of the materials in their bucket to construct a Christmas tree with a trunk and star. 🎄

“In the eyes of children we find the joy of Christmas; in their hearts we find the meaning.”
What a whirlwind week we had at South Jefferson Elementary! From gingerbread decorating in kindergarten and first grade to our 4th/5th grade chorus concert to making snowmen in fifth grade, our students had a memorable time before our winter break. Thank you to our amazing staff and community for helping these memories happen! We hope that everyone has a wonderful holiday with your families.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

REMINDER: All Jefferson County Schools students will be dismissed two hours early this Thursday, December 21, 2023. Winter break begins on Friday and continues all next week. Students will return to class on Wednesday, January 3, 2024. Have a safe and restful break.

Congratulations to Mrs. Findley, our Interventionist, who is our December Employee of the Month. Mrs. Findley was nominated by Miss Potts for assisting with the new AimsWeb screeners. Mrs. Findley supports approximately 60 of our students with Math and Reading, as well as providing support for our teachers, and is a vital part of our team. Well done, Mrs. Findley, and much deserved! 💜💛

One of our favorite days at SJES is Pajama Day. This year, we did not disappoint. An awesome way to head into the weekend and have some fun!

Congratulations to third-grader, Max Blake, for his Positive Principal Referral. Max was nominated by Mrs. Mangum for treating a fellow classmate with patience, kindness and support. Max is a fantastic example of the type of role model that we love to have at SJES! Awesome work, Max! 🌟

Snuggly scarves were on display this week!

We rocked our holiday socks at SJES!

Feliz Navidad!

Congratulations to Bryce Ashlock for his Positive Principal Referral. Miss Potts nominated Bryce because she noticed he was picking up paper towels off of the floor. She said that he is “always mannerly and kind”. Bryce, you are EXACTLY the type of student we love to have at SJES! Thank you for being such an amazing excellent role model!

More than anything else, kindness matters and will change the world. Mrs. Sunday’s class decided to take on the Kindness Challenge and do something for someone else (besides friends and family). I’m so proud of them for spreading such warmth into our community. Well done! #KindnessIsContagious #KindnessIsFree #KindnessInAction 💜💛 Ms. Mahoney

Are you ready for a snow day? SJES brought the "white out" to ensure that we will have a winter wonderland this year! ❄️
