Monday, February 5, marked the 100th day of school at JCS, and students across the district had fun celebrating this exciting milestone! Many dressed up as 100-year-old centenarians, while South Jefferson Elementary students took a different path, celebrating the theme “We Are 100 Days Brighter” by wearing neon or otherwise brightly colored clothes. Check out some of the creativity on display in the images below!

JANUARY 31, 2024: We would like to provide an update on an external threat reported this morning. Working with our partners in law enforcement, Jefferson County Schools has learned that no credible threat existed to the communities of North Jefferson Elementary School, T.A. Lowery Elementary School, Wildwood Middle School, or Jefferson High School. Upon being detained, law enforcement determined that the suspect in question was training for the U.S. armed forces while wearing a weight belt and did not threaten any of our school communities. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we work to ensure the safety of our students and staff.

Driswood Elementary School students are showing their love for good attendance with a special Valentine's Day-themed project! 💕 Beginning January 10 through February 14, every DES student receives a paper heart to sign for each day they come to school. Students then post the signed hearts outside their classroom door. By Valentine's Day, each cluster of hearts will connect from room to room, surrounding the DES hallways with a love for attending school! What a fun and creative way to demonstrate how Attendance Matters: All Day, Every Day - way to go, Owls! 😍

Students from Driswood Student Education Association built skills in community service and leadership this week by organizing a Caring For Our Community food drive. They received many generous donations from Driswood families. Kidz Power Pacs, a 501c3 organization that serves on average of 1000 children in Jefferson and Berkeley Counties weekly, will receive the donations. To donate to Kidz Power Pacs you you can go to www.communitycombined.org .
